Lee, a USAT Level I Coach specializing in Long Course triathlons and certified by Training Peaks and 80/20 Endurance, provides a comprehensive approach to triathlon training. With over two decades of personal experience spanning Sprint to Ironman distances, including national and world championships, he offers tailored guidance to help athletes achieve their goals and excel in the sport.

Crafting personalized training plans focused on endurance, strength, speed, and mental preparedness, Lee supports novice through experienced triathletes in their athletic journey, ensuring gradual progress and minimizing injury risks. His constant motivation, accountability, and race-day strategies empower athletes to conquer their goals.

Starting in 2001, with a modest start in mountain bike racing, he was asked to participate in the bike leg of a sprint triathlon relay. Upon witnessing the impressive display of half-ironman athletes running to place their bikes into T2 to get on with their half marathon, after 56 miles on the bike course, he was hooked with the idea of doing a half-ironman one day. Just weeks after graduating high school, he fulfilled that dream. Having witnessed the race, his high school swim coach challenged him to compete in Ironman Arizona with him the following year. With some money saved up from working at the local bike shop, he took him up on the idea of entering the race. He didn’t tell his parents about his decision until months later when the three hour training runs became suspicious. In April 2008, he crossed the finish line in Phoenix. This would be the first of many Ironman events to come.

Lee’s athletic journey expanded to encompass various disciplines, including road and trail running races up to marathon distance and obstacle course racing through the Spartan series. He notably qualified for and competed in prestigious events such as the Ironman 70.3 Worlds (2022 & 2024) and the Spartan North American Championships. Additionally, as a ranked professional Spartan obstacle course athlete, he demonstrates his commitment to excellence in multiple disciplines.

Lee resides with his wife in San Diego, CA, where he balances his triathlon coaching with his roles as a software project manager and Navy Reserve Officer at the Office of Naval Research. In his leisure time, he indulges in a diverse range of activities, including general aviation, paragliding, rock climbing, and skydiving.
